please show me a coin with one face they are two sides of one coin like mind & heart
religion is superfluous
despite being a devout hindu i first went to a majar after my wedding & offered a chadder then went to a temple as per our custom
in our village a majar & temple are situated in the same compund owe are required to first go to majar
i was made to pass through tajias to ward off evil in my child hood
all auspicious work in marriages like mehandi, dupatta , bangles, bridal dress is provided by muslims & they are respected a lot
i hate the synthetic secularism

”religion is superfluous”.
Shiv said that.
I hope he doesn’t mind me adding that ”organised” religion is superfluous.
(I am not asking you, Shiv, to endorse the following opinion. I’ll take it on for myself).
Hindus and Muslims and Jews and Christians and Bhuddists and Janes and god-knows-what-else and all of the rest of them are all
PART OF THEIR OWN PROBLEM!!!
And all of the rest of us, yes, us, the rest of us, in case you forgot, you know, the unbelievers, have to suffer all the bloody consequences of your futile combat, every day, every funeral. These are consequences that we do not need or want, consequences that you cannot find the answers to yourselves.
The beautiful phrases and ideas and ideals and concepts and ideas-of-peace and what-should-be’s are and debates and schisms and all the rest of it, if no-one minds me saying so, are no more than a lazy and self-satisfied way of ignoring (wilfully or otherwise) that organised religion is one of the biggest threats to peace in this world.
And words won’t change that.
I understand perfectly the sentiment expressed by the author, I respect it and I wish it was that simple, and I know his intentions are good, but the world needs more than the word game in the title of this article.
Why can’t all these religions just leave us all alone and go blow themselves to smithereens somewhere else? What do they have to teach me, a simple man who is looking? Why should I follow? Where is the example?
(And, while I’m waiting, I’ll just stick to believing in something even bigger than that.......)
